Algorithmic Hiring Center
HoloLens AR experience exploring a futuristic algorithmic workplace, created with CMU ETC, KnowledgeWorks, and Remake Learning. Exhibited at Thrival 2019 and ISTE 2019.
Synopsis
With new modern technologies automating the 21st century world of work, the future of work is ever changing, and the landscape of learning must evolve to meet it. What skills must the future worker have to meet the demands of tomorrow’s careers?
Designed in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center, Duquesne University’s Education|Uncontained, and made possible with a generous grant from the KnowledgeWorks Foundation and the Remake Learning Network, we explore the possibilities with Microsoft’s HoloLens V1 — a revolutionary augmented reality headset.
Concept
We use the HoloLens V1 to augment our real-life environment with a virtual, reconfigurable workplace that can be carried and set up anywhere on the go:
- Spatial Mapping — HoloLens advanced SLAM algorithms map and render a wireframe of the surrounding room in real-time at 15fps.
- Holographic Desk — Augmented embedded holographic displays create a convincing virtual desk that stays put even while rapidly moving the headset.
- Floating UI — Multiple large interactive floating user interfaces seamlessly display vibrant, animated colors and graphics on top of the real world view.
- Physical Interaction — With HoloLens real-time position tracking, virtual objects are just as interactable as real-life objects.
Partner Organizations
- KnowledgeWorks — Supporting personalized, competency-based learning communities.
- CMU Entertainment Technology Center — Premier graduate program for interactive entertainment applied across fields.
- Remake Learning Network — Open network of creative people and organizations in the greater Pittsburgh region.
- Education|Uncontained — Youth-led, teacher-powered learning promoting justice and education without limits.
