Projection-Mapped Pinball Game V2
AR pinball combining projection-mapped interactive digital media with a real, super-size physical pinball machine. Version 2 with bigger and better hardware.
Overview
An augmented reality pinball game prototype that blends projection-mapped digital visuals directly onto a real, oversized physical pinball machine. The digital layer reacts in real time to the physical ball’s position, layering animated effects, scoring, and game events onto the physical playfield.
My Role
Developed at CMU ETC with John Balash, Emmanuel Lugo, Hannah Levine, Shelly Zhang, and Chansocphentra Salcido. Led projection calibration, real-time ball tracking, and Unity rendering integration.
Key Features
- Real-time physical ball tracking via overhead camera
- Projection-mapped visuals precisely aligned to the physical playfield
- Dynamic animations and effects triggered by ball position and events
- Super-size physical pinball hardware with custom fabrication
- V2 improved hardware scale and tracking reliability over V1
